Headaches:
There are many causes of headaches. Commonly, people experience headache due to dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system in the neck region. This dysfunction leads to muscle imbalances in the neck and is commonly referred to as a Tension Headache. Stress and poor posture can also contribute to these muscle imbalances. You may experience pain that begins in the base of the skull and radiates down the mid-back or up into the forehead or eye region.

Treatment includes:
Education about the condition and how to avoid making it worse.

Therapeutic modalities to improve circulation and/or reduce inflammation and pain such as ultrasound, laser, interferential current, electrical muscle stimulation, acupuncture.

Exercises to stretch or strengthen the appropriate muscles, stabilize the joints and correct the muscle imbalances.

Manual therapy to improve the movement in the area and relax tight muscles in the area.

Dizziness/Cervical Vertigo:
People become dizzy for several reasons such as irregular blood pressure or side effects from medications. Some people's dizziness (or vertigo) is caused by a dysfunction in the joints and/or muscles of the neck. This leads to a change in your body's perception of the neck's position in space. Retraining of your sense of position of your neck, also known as proprioception, is crucial.

In some cases, your physiotherapist may refer you to your doctor to confirm that the cause of your dizziness is Cervical Vertigo, and not another medical condition.
