I am a University of Saskatchewan graduate. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2008 followed by my Masters in Physical Therapy in 2010. During my time at the University of Saskatchewan I was a member of the University Varsity Women’s Soccer team as well as a Student Athletic Trainer for the University Track and Field Team. Upon graduation, I moved back to my home province of British Columbia to work as an orthopedic therapist for a fast-paced private practice in Williams Lake. Here I was exposed to a diverse clinical caseload. In 2012, I completed my certificate in anatomical acupuncture (formerly CAFCI) with Acupuncture Canada, followed by continuing education for treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction, treatment and prevention of running injuries and concussion management.
In 2019 I relocated to Halifax and joined the Young Kempt Physiotherapy team. Since that time I have continued my professional development by taking courses specializing in pelvic health, as well as manual and manipulative therapy. I have also completed my CrossFit Level 1 Certificate Course.
Although my caseload remains very diverse at Young Kempt Physiotherapy, a growing percentage is dedicated to Pelvic Health. As a mother of 2 c-section births, I have developed a special passion for helping women navigate the journey of pregnancy, postpartum, and helping them return to their desired physical activities.
I have a unique area of interest and ability in helping those involved in functional fitness and barbell sports understand the role of the pelvic floor as part of a system and supporting rehabilitation of the deep abdominals. I also instruct a small group Ab/Rehab course, which focuses on improving the function of the abdominal canister as it applies to exercise. I have the wonderful opportunity to blend the worlds of orthopedics and pelvic health working with clients through our satellite clinic at Ironstone Strength and Conditioning.
Outside of the clinic, I love to spend time with my husband and two children. We are always up for an outdoor adventure. Also I keep active by training and competing in CrossFit and Weightlifting.
