Registered Massage Therapist

Judy is an honours graduate from the 2200 hour Massage Therapy program at ICT Northumberland College in Halifax. Elected valedictorian by her graduating classmates, Judy also won an award for ‘Outstanding Contribution to the College Community’. Her treatment approach has a wellness focus, incorporating both therapeutic massage and remedial exercise techniques. She is trained in Swedish massage, deep tissue massage and myofascial release. Judy is committed to continuous education and has advanced her knowledge in massage therapy with post-graduate courses in neck and spinal injuries. She is presently completing courses toward her International Sports Massage Diploma with the Canadian Sport Massage Therapists Association.

Prior to becoming a Massage Therapist, Judy was employed for 18 years as a Social Worker primarily in the mental health field and believes in the power of the mind-body connection. With a strong background in supporting and empowering individuals to achieve their optimum wellness goals, she is experienced in assisting clients with healing from various conditions including trauma, chronic pain, illness, and injury. Whether the wellness goal is rehabilitation or relaxation, Judy’s supportive, accepting and nurturing energy creates a safe and healing environment for her clients.

As an avid lover of all things outdoors, Judy spends her leisure time running, backpacking and ocean kayaking. She is a strong believer in giving back to the community and has volunteered with the Saturday Free Clinic and with Capital Health’s Sunshine Room where she provided massage therapy for those undergoing cancer treatments. She is also a dedicated volunteer Advanced Medical First Responder with St. John Ambulance providing first aid coverage at a variety of events in the local community.
