Thomas Abbass

PT

I am a physiotherapist and certified strength and conditioning specialist. I graduated from Cape Breton University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2015. In 2017, I graduated from McMaster University with a Master of Science in Physiotherapy. I continued my physiotherapy and academic journey to complete an introductory and advanced level Sport Physiotherapy Fellowship in London, ON. In this position, I worked with all varsity athletes at Western University and Fanshawe College.

I have a passion for active rehabilitation, focusing on strength training and mobility to manage pain, increase performance, and prevent future injuries. I believe that education is an invaluable and essential tool in empowering my clients to be engaged and take an active role in their rehabilitation. I combine injury-relevant education with individualized exercise prescription and hands-on manual therapy to help my clients return to optimal functioning. I have pursued post-graduate courses in pain science, the shoulder complex, knee and hip pathologies and personal and professional growth. I have experience treating various conditions and injuries, spanning from concussions to musculoskeletal pain to post-operative sports rehab. I enjoy working with a broad spectrum of clients, ranging from high-level athletes to weekend warriors.

Outside of work, my hobbies include weight lifting, exercise classes, spending time outdoors, and watching too much TV! During the summer, I enjoy travelling and spending time at my family cottage in Cape Breton. I am originally from Newfoundland and Labrador and would be happy to hear any tips for exploring Halifax!
