A few common questions about our practice

Do you have parking, if so where?
Yes, there is free parking across the street from our clinic at the Halifax Forum. Upon arrival, you can provide us with your license plate number to register. There is also plenty of street parking within the vicinity.
Are there Accessible parking spots?
Yes, there are accessible parking spots on Almon street right outside of our building.
Do you direct bill? If so, with which companies?
Yes. Some common companies we direct bill include BlueCross, Great West Life/Canada Life, Sunlife (excluding Public Services), Manulife, Industrial Alliance, Chambers of Commerce, Johnston Group, Greensheild and SSQ. Other companies that have recently worked for us, but not always, are Claim Secure, Cowan, and Group Health. We can always try it at the time of your first session, but is not guaranteed to work. We encourage you to call or check your plan coverage ahead of time.
Do you have massage?
Yes, we have a team of great registered massage therapists and are able to direct bill for these sessions as well, depending on your plan.
What is your connection with Ironstone?
We are two independent local businesses working together for the common good of our patients and clientele. Our mutual goal is the make an impact on our clients health and fitness. At ironstone we have a fully functioning clinical space as well as access to all the fitness equipment that the gym provides. We staff 3 physiotherapists and an athletic therapist at our satellite clinic in Ironstone Strength and Conditioning. This is a great option for patients returning to sport after an injury, rehabilitation after surgery, starting a guided journey to fitness, those patients looking for injury prevention or for those simply interested in working towards improving health and fitness in a safe environment. Treatment sessions at Ironstone are very easy to adapt to each patient’s particular goals or interests and is a great option for all fitness, injury and health levels.
What should I bring/wear to my appointment?

You should be prepared ahead of time with your insurance coverage if any. If a third party such as workers compensation or a motor vehicle company is paying for your treatment, please get as much information as possible such as a claim number, adjusters name and contact, contact information from your employer. Depending on what you will be getting treated, wear or bring appropriate clothes to change into. Tank tops for shoulders, shorts for hips and knees etc. You will be moving so your clothes should allow for that. We do have extra clean shorts and tank tops we can provide as well. If you have any copies of imaging reports from your doctor, we appreciate those. If you don’t have access to those we are able to send a request to your doctor with a signed release form.

How long are appointments?
The first visit usually will run a bit longer than a subsequent session. On average give yourself an hour of time.
Do you need a doctors referral?

We do not require a doctor’s referral for you to be seen and treated. However, some insurance companies will require one to cover the cost of your treatment. It is always best to check your plan coverage and requirements
ahead of time.
