Physiotherapists are primary health care professionals with a significant role in health promotion and treatment of injury and disease. They combine their in-depth knowledge of the body and how it works with specialized hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose and treat symptoms of illness, injury or disability. (Canadian Physiotherapy Association, 2013).

Both Young Kempt Physiotherapy and Beaverbank Physiotherapy are strong proponents of teaching and mentoring. Our therapists are heavily involved in teaching courses and labs at the Dalhousie School of Physiotherapy as well as being clinical instructors for student physiotherapists each year providing them with exceptional student placements. We have developed a strong bond with the School of Physiotherapy as we often provide mentorship or job shadowing opportunities as well as providing part time work for many physiotherapy students while they are studying. This provides them invaluable experience in the clinical setting.

Our therapists teach post graduate courses for the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and provide mentoring hours for other physiotherapists who are working towards their FCAMPT certification.
